Yes.  It is official.  The title says it all.  We are excited to announce that LittleBigPlanet has officially gone GOLD!  So what does that mean to you?  The game without a doubt will be on store shelves on October 21st in North America and Latin America.  SCE and MM will continue to burn the midnight oil to ensure that our fans will be able to access some amazing content and features through the PLAYSTATION® Network on the 1st day of launch.

LittleBigPlanet™ release date and downloadable content confirmed

Sony Computer Entertainment and Media Molecule are delighted to announce that exclusive PLAYSTATION®3 title LittleBigPlanet™ has gone gold!

The full global release schedule:

October 21st North America & Latin America
October 22nd Europe, Australia & New Zealand
October 24th UK & Ireland


(The Japanese release date is currently targeting the week commencing 27th October)

However, this is only the beginning. We won’t be taking it easy just because we have started to manufacture the game! Media Molecule and SCE have a long-term commitment towards expanding the world of LittleBigPlanet and working hard to make sure that our fans get amazing new content and features via PLAYSTATION®Network.

To start with, there will be a free Spaceman costume for Sackboy, perfect for preparing to launch! There will also be a rare “Week One” Sackboy t-shirt to prove that you were there at the start. Both items will be available for a limited time only.

Of course, it’s not just about what your Sackboy will be wearing this season, it’s what he can do that counts. LittleBigPlanet delivers over 50 levels to play out of the box either on your own or in up to 4-player multiplayer. You also get the most intuitive and powerful content creation tools ever seen in a console game, enabling you to make whatever you want. Then, thanks to the ability to share your creations or download others via PLAYSTATION®Network, the world of LittleBigPlanet will keep on growing forever as gamers make their own games: there will be new experiences to play every time you go online!

So what more can we possibly add?

Well, that’s up to you! We know that you will come up with ideas that will surprise even us, so let us know what would make your LittleBigPlanet a better place. To get you started we are already hard at work on some cool ideas for the way gamers can interact, including the ability to create levels together online in a multiplayer jamming mode!

SCE care only about America, they want American to feel Superior, and they must want the UK to feel like dirt, seeing as the game was made in the UK, so they decide to rub our faces in it?

Typical Sony. And I've always been one of those people who stood up for Sony, when others would badmouth them.

Shipping laws my a**.

Other games manage to do it, without half the bloody hype LBP has. Surely they'd know that putting the UK last, but 2 days, and seperating bloody Europe from the UK would cause chaos??

No, it's not about the game, it's about SCEE screwing everything up. Nearly every release date gets ******** up for the UK, and I'm sick to death of it.

Especially with a game with the amount of hype LBP has, surely they have enough sense not to do something like this?

And don't tell me to calm down, because you're sitting there all smug, because America gets it days before everyone else, yet again.

If you were in my position, you'd be furious too.

actually no i wouldn't , like i said it is only a game ... i am not smug, i could care less if i got it a few days after anyone, big deal, i am still gonna get it regardless.
did you think maybe they want all the bugs from the first few days cleared up by the time it reaches its homeland? maybe they want to test how the launch goes on the largest market first. there could be many reasons they do what they do.

again.... only a game... no reason to get so ****** off over 2 days... geez.

It's got nothing to do with "them wanting the bugs out by the time it reaches the homeland". The bugs will have been sorted by the time the US gets it.

I love the people complaining about UK getting the game TWO DAMN DAYS LATER, when I live in Japan and I will have the game ONE FREAKING WEEK AND A HALF later and I even wonder if I'll be able to get those free stuff for the first week (seeing how Japan gets it just when that's over..).

It is, when you think about it. Having the game 2 / 3 days later, will mean that most of the UK's creations & levels will be stuck at the bottom, underneath a thick layer of stuff that's not even that good, that's just been put on there. To a certain degree, the first things out there will be near the top of the list..

Miffy man, you've gone a little over board here. I get the frustration, I'm from Canada. We see what US gets right out the window, but rarely ever get any of it ourselves. The truth of the matter is, it's the way the world's laws and supply and demand work. Games get pushed forward to compete with other titles, or pushed BACK to meet with some specific market analysis that tels them it will do better on that specific day.

SCEE is NOT doing anything out of spite. NO big corporations do anything to consumers out of spite! That's just bad business and they wouldn't do it.

Again, I get the frustration, but don't blow up all over the site you've been so glad to post on for the past months.

YES!!! This is awesome!!! Its even earlier than I expected. Play.com were saying 31st, then there were other dates floating around the net including 27th and 29th. But the 24th is even better!!!!

But i just have one question, Why is it, that a UK developed game, gets released in America first? I mean Japanese developed games mainly come out in Japan first, American developed in America first, but a UK developed game comes out in America first? o.O I'm not complaining, cos i'm happy that i will be able to play this amazing game on the 24th, but im just curious, doesn't seem logical to me xD

What more can you add? what would be awesome is having a movie editor and making videos like the ones shown in trailers. Having the ability to then upload it on youtube would be the icing on the cake. I can imagine making power point presentations for school using LBP.

Aaaah, the excitement is setting in even more so now. I have the spacesuit Sackboy as my desktop background, i minimised my window, saw it, and was like AAAAAH *EXCITED* xD But i want another LittleBigChallenge to pass the time ^_^
