Creator Spotlight – Jemi-maru

We’re confident you’ve seen it!  It’s one of the most popular and viewed LBP videos on the LittleBigWorkshop, and it definitely caught our attention.  Brought to you by, Jemi-maru, the LittleBigDance video featured multiple SackBoys outfitted in various costumes, rocking out and dancing to various tunes.  We also thought the range of backgrounds used throughout the video was highly creative.  It’s one of the most inspirational videos we’ve seen with SackBoy.

Jemi-maru has also created other LBP videos including Fable of Souls and as featured in our Spotlight in yesterday’s post – How to make a wall climbing / jumping vehicle

Great Job, Jemi-maru! We’d love to see what other LBP videos you can create!

Now after watching Jemi-maru’s LittleBigDance video, it has us wanting more, and we’d love to see what else you guys can come up with in making your own LBP dance video.  You are open to use a combination of created objects, backgrounds, and your own outfitted SackBoy.  We can't wait to see them.

Not to **** on the parade by going offtopic for the sake of it, but is there going to be a new way of getting to user generated content in the game?
Its impossible to get plays on your newly created level because there is too much of it (50+ pages to browse, while noone is going to look past page 5!)

all im missig is nariko now "/ i love the shark.. I made him eatig a swimmer.. but the only thing im bummed about.... he cant wear his swimming goggles cus the shark is for the head... they should of made the goggles for the eyes :/

This needs to be banned immediately as it is in violation of several music copyrights, as well as associated trademarked dance and choreography moves. If action is not taken within 24 hours, legal action will be invoked.

Additionally, All work by the individual 'Jemi-Maru' must be removed, and this player blocked from further activity as a preemptive intellectual property protection action in accordance with international copyright law.

And no, its not against copyrights. Should every video on youtube be deleted if they use a song in their video? No.

Some of you people need to study copyright laws. Unless you take ownership of the song (by means of selling it) then its not against copyrights.

One of the first vids I saw, pretty cool. Must've been hard to shake the controller, control the arms, and move the mouths all at the same time. If that is what he did. Probably had help and/or easier way. Still, nice.

@ Pajitnov about the costumes .. the video was made on the beta version that only had a very very small collection of costumes which u have seen in the video and we only had 12 hrs before the beta closed.

@ Pajitnov .. yeah i guess ur right about the joke its really sad to see such great work vanish .. especially the god of war level .. the owner of that level should just change the name of the level to something like "god of sack" or something and remove kratos's pic and repost it. same goes to the shadow of clauses level.

@ Hackboy88.. i dont have the kratos pack but i assume if they provided it for you then MM must have it licensed and you can use it.. as long as you dont call the level "god of war" im guessing ur fine.. i think SCEE should just allow MM to use all their IP's in LBP i mean in the end it all goes back to one company.

@ Justagame, in the level Azure Palace there was this one sackboy statue that had a head shaped like Pacman. I though that was really stupid I mean that level was the best. Oh and can someone clarify why World of Color got erased.

Why can't MM just give them a rap on the knuckles and let you change the copyright material? People just need to find a way around it by simply renaming it to "Sack" something. Like the Indian Jones level, which had little to do with Indiana Jones seeing as the only reference there was to it was the picture of Indie as the Icon and the rolling stone. But if every level with a rolling stone counted as copyright material against Indiana Jones then MM would have to delete some of their own levels.

It's just ridiculous.

I'm glad I heard of this before I spent any serious time creating a level. There's no point in sharing when decent levels, created in good faith, can be deleted with no reason or opportunity to fix and resubmit. I've got so many things I can spend my time on, that now that I've got as far as I can in the story, I'll move on to something else.

okay, seriously... why is everyone stating that when a level is taken off or deleted, it was a "really great level" or something to that effect... most of the levels being shared are utter garbage, or as the tags go, "RUBBISH"... or "LOUSY"... Most of the levels being put up are horrible trash, for example about 30 levels of "get 5 trophys quick!" and yeah, they spell trophies wrong... and then there are the levels that are some 5 year old playing around with rockets and an object.. utter utter garbage...

I'm all for MM and Sony deleting levels, most of the levels deserve deletion, it's a shame that the majority of these awful awful levels are still out there, and I'd appreciate it if MM or Sony could delete most of them, because there are 50 pages filled with awful levels... so good riddance to most of them and if they are deleting "good" levels, maybe they weren't so good after all.

OMGTKB, seriously....Did you play world of Color or Azure Palace? I did, and I hearted both. The reason there are so many crappy levels is that the good ones have been deleted! Agreed, there are way too many levels where you win like 5 trophies, but I assure you, the deleted ones were great.

@RADRED89, I did play Azure Palace, I'll be honest, I was not a fan, but it wasn't horrible, I'll give you that, and as for World of Color, Saw the youtube video of it, it looked like it was fun, however I stand by my statements, and that is, that the majority of "good" levels are really not "Good" at all... I'm glad that people found two levels out of fifty pages worth, but it just goes to show that the mods aren't really working hard enough to weed out the tares...

Incredible. A great and original level like Azure Palace gets moderated away presumably because of some vague Pac Man reference, and the front page spotlight video here uses copyrighted music in a way that isn't even close to fair use.

Without some system where a creator submitted a level to be reviewed before publishing, I don't see how this problem can ever be solved to everyone's satisfaction. At the very least there has to be some kind of appeal or second chance for people making levels.

@Kream28: If THAT is the reason they took it down, then i'm quite flabbergasted. it's like me having a caricature of a mouse with big ears: is it Mickey Mouse, Truly Nolan influenced, or just a dang mouse?!

@OMGTKB: always nice when someone chimes in for no good reason. you obviously never played this level. why not check the net right now and see how many sites are going bananas over the removal of 'Azure Palace' and 'World of Colour' alone.

they need to get this fixed/give a GOOD explanation to why these things came down and find the means to preventing this from ever happening again..

OMGTKB: no edit button..see you HAVE played it and don't care for it, a shame. but as MANY have stated it is one of the best original levels out there. you might not have the time for it, but seems you're in the minority. as I look from creator to creator, it's funny. they seem to have hearted this level as well..must mean something huh?

anyway, opinion is opinion, on either side. hope they return it to it's rightful place and take down all the world 1-1, sonic, batman, anime, superman, and other copywrite offenders and leave the original stuff off their list.

@Justagame I said Azure Palace wasn't horrible, I never advocated it's deletion, I'm saying that a lot of people are claiming that "good" games are getting deleted, and personally I am all for "supposedly good" games getting deleted if they are instead, actually garbage... I too wish to see "World 1-1, sonic, batman, anime, superman and others" be deleted, but only if they are horribly made levels...

It's a shame these levels were supposedly deleted, I'm also upset that supposedly good levels are disappearing, some people put a lot of effort into them, but however the minority of levels are good, and the majority of levels are awful... so the sooner the majority is the minority the better.

I need help...this is off topic but since Saturday night, every time I try to start LBP the screen goes to the statement telling you not to turn your PS3 off when the lights flashing, etc...But when that parts ends, instead of going to the opening credits for the game, my screen goes blank and I get kicked off the game and back to my PS3 menu. I've tried other games and they all work fine. LBP is the only game this happens with, and it happens every time. Has anyone else had this problem or know what it might be??

HELP? Could someone please explain, why my level, which took over 60 hours to make, does not show up on the COOL LEVELS planet? I looked through all 50 pages, and nothing. Only 50 people played my level and its cause i invited them over to play it. Meanwhile, i see levels on 1st page with 15000 plays! And at same time, levels with 1 or 2 plays. Brand new levels showing up on 1st page! And im not saying that other people dont put as much effort, but many of those levels are, test levels, or Unnamed levels that are very poor quality. What do I have to do to get my level onto COOl LEVELS plaent?

Also, when i click on my profile, the 3 big circles above my name that say PLAY, CREATE, SHARE, all have 0 on them. I have many friends, published 2 levels, and have almost all throphies in the game.

I lost my will to create any more levels. Frown

PS Blog has been down for at least half an hour... Think it has anything to do with a flood of complaints to Sony in regard to these BS deletions?

I know I for one am not going to publish any more levels until this stuff gets sorted out, so my completely original level idea doesn't get deleted because it has a castle in it, which infiringes of Kind Arthurs copyright for a castle, or evolutions copyright on trees...

What the Hell? when i try to load or publish or even edit my level that i have created i cannot do any of those things and it comes up with "cannot load please try again later" and its been doing this for the past week now i finally finished my first level and it took me over 3 hours to do it and now i cant even publish it? whats up with that???

I don't agree on everyone thinking, that MM should delete the levels, that are bad. The reason, if you ask me, that LBP is so revolutionary is that sense of it being the Youtube of Platforming. But since levels like Azure Palace supposedly are being deleted for a very poor reference to Pac-Man, it has failed to live up to that potential just yet. I hope for it to be fixed, and that Sony work as hard as they can on this problem, since it's hurting all of us LittleBigPlaneteers.

I don't get why everyone liked Azure Palace, it was so easy to screw up the level by dropping those keys into the death gas, resulting in the player being forced to start the level over, because you can't get them out. It looked pretty and seemed really promising but that major flaw stopped me from wanting to play it.

Similarly, the God of War: Demon Skull level wasn't that good either. It was actually really freaking boring. The best level I've played was that Gradius remake by that Japanese guy (which better still be up because it was amazing).

HELP? Could someone please explain, why my level, which took over 60 hours to make, does not show up on the COOL LEVELS planet? I looked through all 50 pages, and nothing. Only 50 people played my level and its cause i invited them over to play it. Meanwhile, i see levels on 1st page with 15000 plays! And at same time, levels with 1 or 2 plays. Brand new levels showing up on 1st page! And im not saying that other people dont put as much effort, but many of those levels are, test levels, or Unnamed levels that are very poor quality. What do I have to do to get my level onto COOl LEVELS plaent?

Also, when i click on my profile, the 3 big circles above my name that say PLAY, CREATE, SHARE, all have 0 on them. I have many friends, published 2 levels, and have almost all throphies in the game.

I lost my will to create any more levels. Frown

Because the cool levels is 'broken'' and just doesn't work. It only features about 25 levels on a page and it has 50 pages. So that would make 1250 levels but with 200k sales in the US alone not all levels could possibly be on the cool level pages like that. It just doesn't work. You could post a thread in the promotion zone of the forums to give it some notice.

The Play, create and share scores are temporarily turned off to create server stability.

@Pajitnov: the key falling in the gas is just part of the difficulty. you don't HAVE to get to the end with the key, but like most platformers you get rewarded if you play the level without messing up i.e. dropping the key in the gas.

@Jemi-maru - I watched all your videos on Thursday and I think you did an awesome job.

@Milereb - where is this "promotion zone of the forums"

@MM - I'd like to see a option in the game that allows me to see a world with random user created levels - possibly with the option to filter out anything I've already played instead of the cool levels thing. In general, I think it'd be extremely useful to just have a better tool to filter out looking at stuff I've played vs stuff I haven't played vs new content vs old content vs content that is highly rated or has lots of stars, etc ...

ok why the heck was my favorite user-created level, world of colour by geosatus, DELETED!!!!!!!! i just looked the the whole freakin comment list and i couldnt find it!!!!!!!!!!!! rar!!!!!! plz plz plz help me out guys!!!!!

oh yeah and love the video Jemi-maru... did the "what is love" thing for a school project.... teach said it was great, and ur video just reminded me of it !!!

Awsome, they are spotlighting a video featuring copyright infringement!!! Awesome. In case any of you are new - you see lots of people pointing out blatant copyright infringement because the company that makes LBP deletes any and every level that users create for this game if it has so much as a resemblance to something that is copyright. WE ARE NOT YOUR F'IN EMPLOYEES MM. OUR HARD WORK THAT YOU PROFIT FROM SHOULD NOT BE TREATED LIKE THIS. STOP BEING NATZIS ******** AND LET THE COPYRIGHT HOLDER DECIDE IF THEY WANT A LEVEL MODERATED> GET IT???

This kinnda sucks now. MM is deleting levels left and right, and mostly the good levels. People don't stand for this, make your copyright levels and change them to resemble the copyright material as little as possible but enough to make people think "Oh, I recognize this from ____" Don't let MM censor your creativity like this.
