On Thursday, 11/13/08 the PlayStation Store will have new items for our LBP fans.  As we introduced our ‘freebie’ costumes last week, our second week on the store introduces a variety of costumes - ranging from free to $2.99.

This weeks FREE costume is the SCEE winner from our previously announced Costume Contest – congrats to the winner across the pond (and to you for getting to download it for free).  Stay tune as we'll announce the costume winners from North America and Japan in the new few weeks.

Our “Animals” line-up, introduces our SackBoy costumes with a ‘wildlife’ motif. 

 

Each of these “Animal” costumes can be purchased separately, or via value bundle.

Finally, our first Premium SackBoy Costume on the PS Store is an outfit from the exclusive PS3 title MotorStorm – Stormers UNITE!

great.. is this for europe also?? we got 4 costumes at launch on PSstore, 2 were free. and now there are more coming so soon! thats awesome.

Lovely costumes, going to get them all! =^__^=

That said, I'm also hoping the Toro costume gets a US/EU release, seing as I've always been using the officially available Toro avatar as my european PSN avatar and, thus, don't feel he should be a japanese exclusivity (sure, it's probably the same for the japanese Piposaru costume but I'm really only after the Toro costume and would pay bucks for it XD).

I like that you can get some for free but do we really have to pay $2 for a costume? If it stays like this we will be paying the price of a videogame in a month. Please think about this! Great game by the way.

Awesome. But, I would still like to see something on the first week shirt, Old Snake, Sephiroth and Killzone guys.

Still, it's great to see some new costumes. Can't wait until the 13th!

I wonder how this will translate into NZD. NZ$10 for a t-shirt is a definite "no thanks" from me.

I am loving LBP!!! It's a great idea to have downloadable content like costumes, but it seems to me to be a bit of a cash grab to charge for each costume. I'd pay $20 for a solid update that included dozens of costumes, stickers, backgrounds etc. But to pay everytime for a single costume? It most likely takes minutes for these costumes to be put together! We love LBP, but please don't exploit the fans!

Im having problems with my DLC costumes. I have DL and installed them twice from the Online store. When I load my LBP they dont show up. HELP? Are they only for American disk games? I live in Taiwan and have a region 3 disk. HELP?

Cool Costumes, I agree the pricing isn't to bad. I like the Shark one it looks neat. I'l be downloading the free one since here in Canada the PSN cards have not been released and i don't have a cc to purchase anything from the store Frown

I'm surprised that the "contest winner" doesn't have a name. I'd think getting your name publicized would be part of the prize.

Free costume? Yes. Costume pack? Yes.

Single premium costume? Not so much -I'll wait to see if there will be a premium pack later.

This is a nice update, but where is the 'FIRST WEEK' T-SHIRT? The game has been out for about 3 weeks, and still no week one t-shirt has been released for the US.

Agreed with Medic_Hidden8, I would also like the Motorstorm costume to be free... And somehow they should. After all, it's a little bit of advertisement for other games within LBP...

I was about to say the free costume sucks, but it's the winner from the SCEE's contest, so... Whomever chose the winner sucks. I bet it's the only one not breaking copywrite laws, but it looks a lot like from Mario. Anyway, paying for costumes is pretty bad too, as I felt the game was lacking enough costumes in the first place, to have to pay is quite ridiculous. Although you did make an acceptable game creation engine, making only 20% of a game, and leaving the rest to gamers, then having to pay for more content when I payed for a full game is pathetic.

i want to be able to download and use Toro Frown

i have his partner on my keychain and i won't be able to use Toro because he's likely going to only be on the japanese PSN, which doesn't seem to be compatible with my US copy of LBP (i tried getting the spacesuit early, but no dice)

nice costumes. Smile are they still going to be region-locked? I have a US copy of the game because thats what they sell here in my country but i can only buy from the Asian PSN store because thats the only store my country is registered in.So its impossible for me to get the premium costumes.Please dont make them region-locked cause i want them all!!!

Not sure if I can get them right away but I will get them soon. Motorstorm one is pretty awesome.

Looks like the Day 1 tee is gone, maybe the US and other places will get their own exclusive items soon. Still an official announcement would be nice.

Also could you please make sure that if any costumes are 1 week only it is noted. I will likely get these next week when I get paid but I am afraid they will dissapear.

I personally love this game, Me and my nephew have been playing it for quite a while and enjoying it immensily. It is so Hilarious some of the things you can create. As for paying for the costumes well it sorta sucks but it is going to be up to us gamers not to subcome to buying everyone of the costumes.

Personally I think it would be extremely cool if MM & Sony's 1st Party games worked together with LittleBigPlanet. For example...

If you Bought Motorstorm Pacific Rift and had LittleBigPlanet the Motorstorm costume would be on the Motorstorm Disc and you could download it for free. So you could do that for all sorts of Sony's 1st & even 3rd Party games. The only problem is that we all probably know those are going to be some of the most popular costumes and there for your going to charge for them.

This is just a little thing I wish you guys would consider. It would also be extremely cool if you could use some of the stickers within Home to decorate your apartment. There could even be a LittleBigPlanet Store within Home.

Ohh man I am getting myself to excited here. Most of this stuff will never happen. :-(

It's people who insist on creating a game and deciding they can make a few extra bucks on things that could have easily been put into the game during production that are killing the Game Industry. Finish your game before you release it, DLC is killing the Game Industry.

Costumes are amazing and this game is so addicting love every minute of it! Wishing the platinum trophy was in reach but prolly not this lifetime for me, but keep up the good work and keep the costumes coming! Oh yah is there a toy line or line of some sort in the works?? Smile

More importently, 1/3 of the game is still NON-FUNCTIONAL as everyone's "My Moon" is just taking up screen/memory space and being quite useless...

I care less about what free stuff I can get as getting the fully funtional game I paid for...

I just hope these are going to be reasonably priced in the UK, say £0.50 or thereabouts. The 'Week 1' T-shirt was horrendously over-priced, and things aren't toned down, I'm going to stop buying DLC altogether.

Costumes are great, but they should be half the cost. I may buy some of the better packs, but seeing as the possibilities are endless and new packs every few weeks, I can't afford $50-100 per year just to collect costumes.

Please make costumes bought in the EU Store work with a game bought in the US. I imported the game from US when there on a business trip, and now wasted money on customes that don't work with the game...

So what is the deal with the animal pack??? Were those costumes that were submitted during the contest and then gathered up in put into your animal pack?? And why are you not giving credit to the people that created them?

I find it hard to believe that you had the penguin planned as a costume release before I sent you my sackboy costume contest submission that looks almost identical to your penguin.

I love that you are bringing these new costumes but they are a bit pricey. It would be very cool if there was an integrated PS Store in LBP, or Sony would manage to allow in-game PS Store access.

Anyway thanks for all your DLC that you are bringing to the game. Can't wait to see what other downloads and patches you have up your sleeve Smile

MetalHaze : these animal costumes where shown in the earlier trailer of the game, long time before the costume contest... so yes, penguin was planned for a long time already.

ThinkAdrian : costume are region lock and will stay region lock, cause they are not released at the same time in the different regions (for example, we have the motorstorm costume for a week already in europe).

Have to agree, the prices are a bit high & there wasnt many costumes shipped with the game, there looked there was going to be alot more from all the vids, would have looked better if you had waited untll the games issues (hardcore lag & online create mode) were done before you started cashing in on dlc
