The LittleBigWorkshop has been a great tool for the entire community to get together and Play Create and Share.  And it's also been an amazing source for us to maintain updates and announcements with our community.  Over the past few weeks, we’ve been reading a lot forum posts and noticed certain rooms have become increasingly congested, making it difficult to sustain the amount of traffic and info pouring in.  

This has inspired our LittleBigChallenge of this week – Your LittleBigWorkshop Forum.  We want the LittleBigWorkshop forum to be YOUR destination for all things LBP, so it only makes sense to have you guys tell us how you’d like the message board to be.  We've came up with a new structure to help with the amount of traffic coming in, but we need your help to tell us if this is what you want.  

So have fun, and get together to tell us how we should better organize the LittleBigWorkshop forums.  We'll be sure to pay attention to your ideas :)

Can you check with the admins if they can update the user inforamation on the forums to link to their workshop room? it would make it more useful that way imo.

So in this layout idea you got rid of the most popular section "General Discussion". If the topic does does not fit PLAY, CREATE, SHARE, or Wish list and is still LBP related where do we discuss it? Sounds like with this layout you are just trying to get rid of the one of the main sections players vent about problems. Leave GENERAL alone.

On the contrary, we're not trying to get rid of anything - just make the forums more efficient and user friendly. We know that General Discussion is popular, but the topics have been scattered. If you have any examples of topics that wouldn't fit, would love to hear it from you so we can consider a section that we missed. This is no mean final and this is your chance to provide input, instead of just saying you don't like it.

Look forward to hearing your ideas/examples.

Share gold trophy??? It seems ive been playin online in forever and I just cant get the share trophy or the create trophy where u need 50 and 30 hearts??? the share trophy is really bothering me. do you have to beat the level, or jus go into and come out or what? psn Skilzz88

The sections you have outlined are fine except that GENERAL DISCUSSION needs to stay put. The real problem is not the categories but the users. You can have a catagory for every possible topic but still there are plenty of users that will post under the first section they see. Also there are plenty of others that have no clue and have never even touched the search feature. This is what causes clutter and IMO is unavoidable no matter how things get organized. I treat the General section as a nice popuri of topics that you cannot get from other sections, You never know what the hot topic of the day will be.

So in closing th only opinion I can give as a section called GENERAL DISCUSSION or name it something else like "*.* + LBP".

I think the new setup sounds excellent- the only suggestion I would have beyond the reorganization is the ability to jump to the final page of a thread. As it is now, if a thread is over 10 pages or so, you have to page through the rest of them 3 or 4 at a time just to get to the most recent post...

Let's say, hypothetically, a topic was created (we'll call it The LBP PLAYers) designed for people to make friends with one another, get help with story mode levels they're struggling with, get help locating missing items (stickers, outfits, etc), and basically get help with anything else related to LBP (that players could help with). Where would such a topic go in this new structure?

I suppose such a topic was never meant to hypothetically exist, as it's basically a minuature version of the forum itself, but it was still fun. Hypothetically.

maybe FAQ section with all the answers to those daily questions but first have to see what the next 'big' patch is going to fix/add since it may answer lots of questions.

As for the new sub folder ideas seems pretty good/cool
Jjust question for the mods - Wouldn't the mods get tired moving peoples threads around if we have more ? :p

....yeah....would it be to much to ask for like a troubleshooting area....i mean you have all these people who like to talk about "fail to load" , "wheel of death", "3rd party controllers", "problems with DLC", "server issues", "moderation issues", "profile space issues" i mean the list goes on but im sure you get the point....if you can get a Romper room for those guys to bounce around in for a few hours and tire themselves out before joining us folks in the general discussion room that would be great......thanks guys.....

"for people to make friends with one another" - we're thinking PLAY / LittleBigNetwork would take care of that, but LBP PLAYers is a cool name...

"get help with story mode levels they're struggling with" - thinking PLAY / Story Level Discussion would fit the bill...but probably need a better name

"get help locating missing items (stickers, outfits, etc)" - PLAY / Collectors Corner should work for this

"basically get help with anything else related to LBP (that players could help with) - we're hoping CREATE / How-to would work

Yes, your proposed split-up of the forums works for me; I didn't mean to imply that I had a problem with what you are suggesting. (altough, I think Lionheartwolf and Blastroid have made good points about possible changes to the original plan)

I really was just curious, more than anything, about what happens to current topics that fit into multiple categories. As it is, there is just one "PLAY" general discussion area. Therefore, a single topic could cover every aspect of PLAY and be completely on topic. However, as soon as this forum change goes into effect, said topic becomes partially off-topic for every room in the forum. Where would such topics go? Or is the plan to level the current forum posts and start over?

It's Saturday afternoon, 12-13-08, and I'm wondering if I'm the only one not allowed on the LBP servers today. I logged in once, shut down to switch my sound settings to my headphones, came back to LBP and they won't let me in. My Sony connection is fine...

What at all does this have to do with the forum layout? Learn to post in the correct spots. These type of users are why we even have to redo the forum layout and also why any forum layout will never stop users from posting to the first place they see be it a forum section or comments related to forum placement with a subject that has noting to do with the topic. I rest my case.

This is a thread I created about a cool levels board idea, and have been in touch with Sam_Protagonist this whole time, and he said that details had been worked out for this board, and a few days ago he told me he was finalizing details for that very day, then was asked to wait before setting up the board. So I was wondering if this idea will also be a part of the board change or not?

Please add a forum section titled "Sound proof padded wall room". In this forum all text is invisible so you can type anything you want cuss words and all. I need a place to vent my frustration with the world and myself since my collection of stuffed animals has been fed though a wood chipper after my last break down and I have nothing left.

More options will also help the moderators, giving them more specific places to put certain threads, which will also cut down on clutter. This is a good idea, and will help the forum be even more organized. Or we could go back to the way the PSU forums did it and have no organization at all.

@Sackboy: You guys ought to implement a help section for technically related stuff pertaining to the forums and/or PS3+LBP comment threads. Just like over at SCEA. As I write that I know you don't have a ton of traffic in that area now per say, but maybe it's a preemptive move?

Also, please contact Lithium (since I don't think your MODs or ADMINs are coders) and as Reinheart said above please link our forum and LBW accounts from within our profiles. It's less than a couple lines of PHP in just a few files and one line of HTML. Frown This is frustrating seeing as how simple it is to accomplish.

Other than that I like the new setup and hope you put it into play soon. As your staff seems to already have noticed, many of us are going to other sites now because of the lack of moderation and features here. So this is a good "first step"...hope there are more soon. Please contact me via PM or email if you want to talk more on it.

Keep up the good work.

I like the site. I only wish you'd include a way to retrieve images from in game, game use scores [play,share,create], and a way queue levels to play later. None of that has much to do with the actual forum but the site in general. Wink Not very original or creative I know.

that did not mention the traffic as in bandwidth they mean to much is being posted in a single category that someones post could get to page 4 without views or replies and its not a good thing to have a member not get his proper feedback

Stop asking for hearts people. You should earn them not beg or them. Just create a couple of good levels by getting ideas from other levels.

Yessir!

I think you should just make a forum that is super obvious and easy to access. That way, all of the riff raff that Lionheartwolf so despises will click it and ask for hearts there.

You can even call it "Free Hearts and also Lionheartwolf hates you."

There's something wrong with the CREATE sub-forums. Why separate the teachers and students into a Tutorials and "How can I ..." sub-forums? Those should be in one area. Keep the teachers and students in one area. Perhaps a better separation is "what" we are creating ... i.e. a separate area for level creation vs. sack-boy costume creations ... and maybe even a place for us LittleBigPhysicists to discuss our formulas and theories.

Now there's an idea! We need a forum under the umbrella of general discussion called "The Blacklist." people could gather in there to defame and deride one another, and to set up "Hate Games" with their "Hate Buddies." Just get 2-3 of your hated enemies together, add them to your friends list, and then take turns going to each other's pods and defacing them with udders, noses, and donkey tails.

I love the work being put into the forum and I believe the layout that has been come up with is a great start. However I think that it needs to be cleaned up a bit. The Promotion zone is beginning to feature everything from "My first level!" to "The LBP Review League". I think that Mm needs to make finding a great level just a little bit easier. So instead of having a pile of threads to look through, just categorize the promotion zone. A section for level reviews. A section for mini game promotion. Thats just some examples but I'm sure we could split up the levels into a couple different genres. Besides the Share section, I'm sure Create and share could be categorized a little more conveniantly too. Overall I think that its a great forum but this is just my little bit of feedback. Put it to good use =]
